Program "Cultural Bridges"

The program "Cultural Bridges" by Generation Y Productions is part of an effort to connect the Greek-American community - and beyond - with selected theatrical performances from Greece, accompanied by English subtitles to serve non-Greek-speaking audiences.

The effort began in 2019 with the play "The Notebooks of Anzel Kourtian," featuring Greek-Armenian actress Christina Alexanian. It was performed four times in New York and once in Boston, with significant attendance from both Greeks and Armenians.

In 2022, following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, a collaboration began with the popular Greek actor, Demetrios Lalos, who presented the work "Hector's Catharsis." It involved a reading of the Iliad from the perspective of Hector, where Dimitris Lalos, accompanied by the music of Alexandros Kotsopoulos, transformed into a rhapsode and recited all the verses of the Iliad that pertained to Hector. The play was performed at the historic Queens Theatre (New York) and the Maliotis Cultural Center (Boston), receiving applause from the audience.

In April 2023, it was the turn of the ancient tragedy "Alcestis," directed by Elena Mavridou, to be staged in sold-out performances in New York and Boston. Demetrios Lalos, Elena Mavridou, Sotiris Tsakomidis, Dimitra Kouza, and Yiorgos Triantafyllidis traveled from Athens to the United States to present an original version of Euripides' well-known work. The performances at the Hellenic Cultural Center (New York) and the Maliotis Cultural Center (Boston) drew large crowds, and receptions and meet-and-greet events were organized for the respective premieres with the actors.

Patras Carnival Party

The Patras Carnival is a famous event in Greece, attracting thousands of visitors every year. Generation Y Productions started by organizing the annual party of the Patras Carnival in New York.

The party aimed to bring the main DJs of the parade and the biggest parties of the carnival to New York for the first time. Starting from a small bar with 50 people, the event grew over the years, with support from the Region of Western Greece, and became a pillar of promoting the Patras Carnival abroad.

The event now attracts over 300 people and has become a popular destination for Greek-Americans and others who want to experience the carnival's atmosphere in New York.
